Please note. All personal data held on this website has now been removed in accordance with our data retention policy.
If you register on this site, or have registered via the Big Ideas website, the Central Council of Church Bellringers (CCCBR) holds the following personal data relating to the Ringing Remembers recruitment campaign.
- Address (including postcode)
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Date of Birth (if under 18 at the time of registration).
- Information you entered at the time of registration, such as where you are learning at, why you volunteered etc.
We hold this data with your consent, so we can find a suitable tower and tutor or to verify you as a bona fide new or returning ringer. We will pass your contact information on (by email, on a piecemeal basis) to officers of a local affiliated ringing society in order to do so. We will also share your information with the Big Ideas Company, who are promoting the campaign (a result of which you will be registered to receive the Big Ideas newsletter from time to time). Your data can only be accessed by selected members of the CCCBR Volunteer and Leadership Development (VLD) group. We do not share your data with any other organisation.
If you are a tutor, or other contact of an affiliated ringing society, your name may be recorded as a contact or tutor (as a ‘legitimate interest‘) against one or more registrations. Only your name is recorded, and it can only be viewed by members of the VLD group, or by the individual registrant you are recorded against. We believe that any impact on your privacy is therefore minimal.
Accessing your data
You have a right to access your data. If you registered on this site, or registered via the Big Ideas site and you received an email with your ID, login using that ID (or the email address you registered), and select Edit My Profile from the top menu. If you do not have an ID, or your email address does not work, please email the administrator, and we will set you up.
If you are a tutor, or contact member of an affiliated ringing society, please email the administrator.
As mentioned above, there is a data sharing agreement with the Big Ideas Company as part of the Ringing Remembers campaign.
Data Retention Policy
Your name, and tower you learned at, will be recorded indefinitely after the campaign has ended, as a matter of public record (as a ‘legitimate interest‘ – any impact on privacy being minimal). Otherwise we intend to erase your contact information (or give you the option to do so yourself) within a few months of the end of the campaign on the 11th November 2018.
Under GDPR you have a right to ‘be forgotten’ i.e. have your data removed. If you not longer wish to take part in Ringing Remembers, please email the administrators. We will then remove your details from our database (you will receive emails advising you), as will the Big Ideas company. We will also advise your affiliated ringing society and/or tutor of your decision, and instruct them to remove your data from their records.
We have in place a number of security measures, including a firewall to block known malicious sites, and a block against brute force password attacks. SSL encryption is enforced for all data access pages. Please email the administrators if you want to know more.
